"In smaller scales, all of my quarter scale houses have been magical themes. For some reason, those little houses strike me as perfect for fairies, gnomes and elves. I've often thought of turning a tiny scaled house into a traditional home, but each time I start one, it ends up being a magical home!
"I've especially had fun with the hidden fairy houses that are tucked away amongst leaves and vines inside planters, baskets and washtubs. They just seem so perfectly realistic to me".
The over-40 dollhouses she has built stand in testimony to Deb's enthusiasm to the hobby and she has plenty more houses in her mind.
"I love building classic homes, but the ones I love most are the ones where I can use my imagination and create all kinds of whimsical, magical or unusual styles. I love stepping outside the box and doing things that have no set boundaries. I also have a passion for creating things that are unusual, aged or earthy and fantasy houses are a blank slate when it comes to letting that passion run wild.
"Best of all, magical houses are never, ever boring. I have an aversion to duplicating anything and when it comes to magic there is so much diversity I know that I will never, ever be bored. I've discovered that when I build magical houses I'm more inclined to make my own furnishings and accessories."
