"The chickens, as pleasant as they are, and as much as I love the eggs, have not done much for the inspiration part. My dogs, on the other hand, are my inspiration. The love I feel for them is what made me want to create them in miniature. I am inspired by any dog I see! Dog shows, art prints, even dogs on the street."
Lucy herself admits that her work and love of dogs, at times, truly are an obsession.
"I am afraid my work has taken over a great deal of my life. Obsession is what I am now all about. Daily I must keep in check my desire to work on my miniature dogs. I feel at times that I am one of those eccentric artists locked away working in solitude. I am content to be in my lovely studio with my real dogs at my side as I create. I am devoted to helping causes that work to help the lives of animals of all species. I enjoy my customers and their stories, many of them becoming quite good friends."
Even though she fears being seen as eccentric because of her passion, nothing could be further from the truth. It firmly plants her head and heart in the real world where she has the support and encouragement of her family.
