CDHM artisan Lucy Maloney creates handmade and furred animals in dolls house scale miniatures

"I am most grateful for my husband, who allows me the luxury of staying home and doing my art. I must include my son in the gratitude department because he has an artist's eye and a passion for dogs as well. In the beginning I could go to him for the opinion I needed in getting it right. Now I get it right on my own, but his constant keen interest in my work is a treasure to me."

A self-taught artist, Lucy's most valuable tool is her magnifier, although you will find Fabric glue, tweezers of all types, scissors and wire cutters sitting at her work table plus one or two unusual tools.

CDHM artisan Lucy Maloney creates handmade and furred animals in dolls house scale miniatures "The magnifier is what I cannot do without. I suppose real dog fur is my most outlandish tool, but my favorite material is alpaca tops. It's easy to work with and I love the quality of the fiber."

Lucy is so good at what she does, that when she had a special request for two commission pieces she found the requirements somewhat troublesome to fulfill.
