Miniaturists travel the world to see collections of all sizes and quality, and attracting those visitors is the goal of CDHM. The galleries provide interesting historical perspective while spurring the imagination. You can journey from fantasy to the zoological extravaganza, then venture over to hand sewn linens with expertise that take you back to the days when sewn goods was the norm. Paintings and printed goods of museum quality to a gardening adventure that makes you think of the castles of Europe. See dolls that bring to life periods of yester-year to characters that spur the imagination. Miniatures are an art form that define our past, present and future. The exact detail and proportion of a piece of furniture, for example, provides the viewer an opportunity to imagine the full-scale piece in his or her own home. While some dismiss the value as a collection, the intricate design and craftsmanship involved in creating these pieces will rival museum works for future generations to come. So tells continue to master the craft and show the world that miniatures are and will always be "art" at its finest. |
