Despite these first professional attempts with crude supplies, her true dollhouse scale work didn't begin until 1989 while she and her husband were in Germany and she got her first dollhouse kit to assemble. It was the latest in a long line of hobby pursuits including jewelry, sewing, Steampunk and polymer clay sculpting and Diana thinks the timing was just right.
"I believe you can say that I developed my style of building miniature dollhouses from a combination of several different crafts that I worked on before. It wasn't until 2006 that I dedicated myself to building houses - some from kits and others from scratch that were my own creations. I also built my own furniture, working lamps, working swimming pool and grocery products to scale."
A defining moment of creative inspiration came for her when she mentioned to her husband that a swimming pool sounded like a great addition to her dollhouse. "He said sure, I think it will look good. But little did he know that my intentions were to make it with real water! I built it with a miniature pump, skimmer and a waterfall."
