Gently smooth the edges of the macaroons with your fingers.

Make the texture around the edge of the macaroon with a needle tool; you will need to make a crispy effect by turning the point of the needle tool.

Texture the top of the macaroons with the scrub sponge or a toothbrush.

In this case, a scrub sponge works well but the toothbrush will work better on air-dried clay.
