Then there was the time my brother and I were in a sort of shoving match, which resulted in one of the glass panes in the back door being broken. Hoping to fix the problem before either parent found out, we went to the basement, found some glass and began to try and cut some to the size we needed. After several futile attempts we realized we would soon run out of glass and therefore
be in hot water for two reasons: the original breakage, then for turning dad's precious saved glass into a box of shards. So we just faced the music. The music being an hour lecture followed by another two hours in the basement where he taught us to cut glass the proper way and made us install the newly cut pane in the back door. But still... He let us live.
