One staple in his garage was an industrial vacuum - great for cleaning up all the sawdust and chipped pieces off the floor. This month I used a multitude of discarded and found objects to recreate that shop vac.
Keep in mind that canisters come in all sizes ranging from smaller, handheld vacuums to large, immobile, industrial ones. Simply adapt your objects to fit the scale. Although mine will be headed for a 1:24 scale scene but it could easily fit in a regular 1:12 scale as a smaller vacuum.
You will need
■
Two small caps to create the canister shape;
■
Play cap gun refills to create perfect inlet and
outlet holes;
■
Cable ties holding dressmaker pins make convincing
wheel castors (map pins would also work);
■
An elastic hair tie for a great hose (I left the elastic
in to give the hose some weight so gravity could
help to pull it down);
