"I learned to crochet from my mother when I was young. I've picked up more tips from the patterns that I have done over the years. I work mostly with #80 cotton tatting thread although I used to crochet with embroidery floss. It worked well for traditional granny square afghans but I tended to find it a bit fragile for some of the 3-D afghans I did. I switched to tatting thread because it is more durable, and I use a 0.75 mm crochet hook and a variety of different stitches to create different designs and motifs."
Michelle started doing miniature crochet quite recently.
"The miniature bug bit me about eight years ago. A teacher who I taught with in Northern Manitoba told me about a woman she knew who had crocheted ripple afghans for dollhouses. I thought that I could do that. I had too many full-size afghans that I crocheted over the years, and this seemed to be an easy way to crochet new afghans without running out of room," she said.
Then things really took off.
