Another type of specialized pliers that I really like is the wire twisting pliers. We use twisted wire for armatures and for any application where a stronger but still flexible
wire is needed. Traditionally, you can get twisted wire by holding two pieces together at one end with pliers and with your hand manually twist the wires together. Or, secure the ends of two or more pieces in a vice and the other ends in the chuck of an electric drill, then run the drill slow (if it is a variable speed model anyway) until all the wires are tightly twisted together.
While the latter works great it can be dangerous, especially if using a single speed drill when the wires twist together rapidly and before you can let go of the trigger the ends at the vice shear off and you are left with a spinning metal whip - trust me on this one... it hurts.
