Dave Krakow is another artist casting light into the micro mini scene. He wanted to show that a plastic kit can be made into quite a striking beauty so set about enhancing a plastic railroad model house kit in HO (1/87) scale. He added laser cut porch trim, laser cut paper flowers and replaced items from the kit such as the shingles, doors, chimney and window sashes.

The tiny house was elevated by adding a stone foundation, concrete steps and lattice work under the porch. He added fabulous details including miniature furniture on the porch with an apple pie waiting to be eaten. This stunning small scene is made even more believable by being lit by natural sunlight and real trees in the background. Dave enjoys working in 1/87 scale because it is the traditional model railroad scale and it's small enough to create a whole street
scene in one square foot yet still large enough to accomodate his furniture and food creations.
