Pudgy Little Heart-stealers

"One time I was carrying on a conversation with myself, half out loud, and half in my head with my back to the door and my mom happened to walk past just as I said to myself (out loud, of course) 'what did you say?' She just shook CDHM artisan Pam Poulakos of Hannypanny Dolls in Miniatures her head and kept walking! In my family I am proud to be the first generation self conversationalists! But there are a couple of my siblings following in my footsteps for sure," she added with a laugh.

In addition to the steady stream of verbal reminders she keeps everything straight in her world with a vast number of lists.

CDHM artisan Pam Poulakos of Hannypanny Dolls in Miniatures "I am a hugely neurotic list maker and send reminders to myself all day long via email and my cell phone! I set alarms on my phone to remind me about deadlines and won't even consider buying a phone that doesn't have a memo pad in it. I have lists of things I want to make, things I want to buy, things I want to do... Right now in my memo pad I have books I want to buy, some things I need to pick up from the store, an interesting philosophy of life that I heard somewhere and quickly entered in my phone, a 'to do' list, etc., etc.," she added.

A version of her list making is also the first thing to cross her mind when she opens her eyes each morning.

"The very first thing I think of in the morning is what I have to do that day. If it happens to be a day that I don't have anything specific that I really need to accomplish, I'm always so glad. It's like a free day! I am most grateful for my family and the fact that most of us are still here in close proximity and relatively healthy. I'm also grateful for my ability to make dolls as I think I would go crazy if I didn't have the outlet for my brain and hands to create something!" she said.

And she is always creating. Not all her creations make it off her worktable, though.

CDHM artisan Pam Poulakos of Hannypanny Dolls in Miniatures "I hold all of my pieces to a high standard of quality as far as workmanship, and as long as each piece is my best at that time I am happy with it. I won't sell something if I'm not happy with it, I have been known to destroy many a doll that isn't 'quite right'," she said.

In addition to CDHM, Pam is a member of Etsy Minimakers Street Team and Art Dolls Sculpture Group. Her dolls have been showcased in American Miniaturist (May 2009), and in the November 2009 issues of Miniaturas and Dollshouse.

"I sell my pieces on my website, www.hannypanny.com and most babies are priced at about $50. Adult and older children dolls range from about $60-$100. I also sell my dolls on CDHM when I have enough stock available. I don't have an active blog anywhere to show the creative process of making them, although I do have a CDHM blog," she added.

"I don't collect miniatures but I've been making some kind of miniature doll for over 30 years. I had dolls as a child and have never stopped buying them, but I don't collect any certain size or kind, just whatever I happen to like at the moment! " said Pam.
