Adding to an already impressive list of accomplishments, she sometimes makes artist studio accessories in both 1/12th and 1/24th scales, ranging from paint brushes to portfolios of mini paintings.
Using her talent for painting as a springboard, Kay has also recently begun to create fine fabrics in 1/12th and 1/24th scale.
"Some of my paintings have provided a great starting point for some fabric designs which I am exploring with vigor at the moment, thus I have created some handmade fine silk cushions and cushion kits for the DIY enthusiasts."
Kay's love of fine art became apparent during her school years. She attended the Lincoln College of Art where she studied Fine Art, Photography, Fashion, and Textile Design. It was not long before Kay achieved a Bachelor of Arts Honors degree.
Combining business with her love of art, Kay started her own company, incorporating style and design into wearable fashions.
"In the early '80s creative knitwear was very popular and I set up my own business designing and manufacturing exclusive knitted garments for independent boutiques across the U.K.
"I had always been inspired by the work of the artists of the Impressionist movement such as Degas, Monet and Renoir and the Post-Impressionist work of Van Gogh and my colorful richly embellished knitwear reflected this. Alongside the creating, I studied for a teaching certificate which enabled me to teach part time as well."
As a teacher, Kay was able to share her knowledge and love of art to her students.
