"I even made a little table saw from scratch, I'd have to say that is my most "outlandish" tool."
Also falling under the outlandish category is Linda's joy at her severe myopia.
"Even though it sounds strange, I am grateful for my terrible eyesight! Turns out my severe myopia is a good thing! My eyes are like microscope lenses and when I take out my contacts, my vision is not just close up, but magnified as well, so I can get very tiny in my carving. My favorite is one lens in and one out so I can see distance and close up simultaneously. For the in-between, I put on a pair of cheap drugstore reading glasses and voila, all three focal lengths at the same time! Awesome!!
"The first thing I think about in the morning is what I have to do that day, can I take the day off and GO TO work! All I want to do is go down in my shop and make things. But housework, yard work and shopping get in the way. So there are days where I say, I'm not doing anything today but going down to the shop and working! I love it."
Linda's creations are available in her CDHM Gallery Miracle Chicken and on her website, miraclechickenurns.com for $50 USD and up. She also writes a CDHM blog, where fans can learn about carving and chickens.
