A Fabulous Dollhouse
of the Twenties
John Noble
Dover Publications, Inc., 1976
At the Museum of the City of New York is a very special dollhouse. Created by socialite Carrie Walter Stettheimer during the fabulous Roaring Twenties era in America, the house is permanently decorated for Christmas in this book and populated by unique caricatures of the very artists and writers who created works found within its walls.
The house has since undergone a renovation and the Christmas party trappings and party guests removed as depicted in the newer version of the book, 'The Stettheimer Dollhouse,' by Sheila W. Clark and published by Pomegranate Communications. But those with a love of all things post World War I will want a copy of the original book (out of print but found at book websites for $5.10 USD (3.75€) for its playful take on an amazing creation and the amazing woman who made it.
