The milling machine can be purchased as a table top unit for us wee folk to experiment with, but still with a relatively hefty price tag. Resembling a glorified drill press, the milling machine is a tool of many more capabilities, most commonly seen in its titan form in machine shops across the world. The milling machine creates everything - from the steel molds that plastic toys and parts are fabricated from to cars and other machines. Almost every metal part on the devices we use today was originally fabricated by a milling machine (and lathe) of one form or another.
Either hand-operated or computer-operated milling machines are used to precisely carve almost any material available. Are you an inventor who just created a part that is going to revolutionize pens everywhere? Well odds are your prototype was milled on one of these puppies. The metal machine screw you just put back into your computer housing? Yup, used both machines to create that. The block of metal that holds your engine to your car chassis (and the chassis itself!)? You got it... milling machine.
