Book review of Making Miniature Furniture By John Davenport, Published by Batsford Craft Books, 1997 Making Miniature Furniture is without a doubt one of the best scale furniture making books available. First published in 1988 then released in paperback in 1997, it is out of print but still may be found used at different websites like Amazon - it is well worth the search.

Author Davenport served as an apprentice cabinet-maker (full-size furniture) before joining his father in the antiques restoration business. And was introduced to his first dollshouse. He became fascinated with the project even though the furniture had been removed from the house. The customer was pleased with his efforts and advised him "to start making miniatures instead of just fixing them".

Davenport admits his first efforts were "disappointing," because "I had neither the knowledge nor the requisite expertise, nor had I examined museum pieces or been to miniatures shows".

Much research and work later, the book is proof his following efforts were far less disappointing.
