"I come from a family of artists or musicians from both sides. I remember in first grade the teacher ask me 'What color is this?' and I said 'cobalt blue'. In order to get me to say a basic color she would have to ask, 'what is the primary color?'
"My mother went to art school and taught me from her text books and in sixth grade I was put in a college art class for two years because I was too advanced. Other than that I'm self-taught. I love art and gobble up anything I can learn."
Like most artists she also credits some of the people who came before her and shared their love and knowledge of miniatures.
"I love the work of so many artists but Jamie Carington helped me the most. I learned about dolls from his book and videos. I love the faces. My dolls are character dolls. You see, you can put a porcelain doll in a miniature setting nicely dressed and it's beautiful, but you put a doll with expression and the setting becomes something wonderful and exciting! I also love Kathleen Dewey and Maureen Carlson whose books helped a lot in helping me to create my own style."
