Using my Xacto© knife, I rough out the shape, following the drawing. Taking my time, so that I do not cut an area that is not correct. You cannot go back and add wood if you do!
The next step is to begin to carve the monkey. I’ve drawn a few guidelines for placement on the side view so I can round out the piece. See how some detail is being added to the rounding out process - his head and arms are completed while the rest of him is still solid.
