Using my Xacto© knife, I rough out the shape, following the drawing. Taking my time, so that I do not cut an area that is not correct. You cannot go back and add wood if you do!

See how some detail is being added to the rounding out process - his head and arms are completed while the rest of him is still solid.

Once the little guy is completely carved comes my least favourite step: sanding him down. I am using 220 grit sandpaper for this carving. Instead of the traditional use of progressively finer grits,
