shamrocks were worn in celebration of St Patrick's Day as early as the 17th century in recognition of his use of the shamrock, a three-leaved plant, to explain the Holy Trinity to the pagan Irish.

It has been created by hand for over 200 years in the city of Waterford, a historic destination in itself that was founded by the Vikings in 941AD.

Another famous tourist attraction that bears mention is the infamous Blarney Stone, or as the Irish would call it, Cloch na Blarnan. The stone is a block of bluestone built into the battlements in 1446 of Blarney Castle, Blarney, about 8 kilometres (5 miles) from Cork. According to legend, kissing the stone endows the kisser with the gift of gab (great eloquence or skill at flattery) for the rest of his or her life.

Coming from the home of some of the most amazing legends on earth, how could one expect any less?
