This is a technique that is also used by gravestone artists to carve the beautiful lettering and art found on headstones. There are less expensive hobbyist type sand blasters that look like large airbrushes, but these are designed for smaller scale work. Still if you are interested in sandblast etching it is a less expensive way to enter the field and perfect for small scale works.

Overall, glass etching is a really fun hobby that produces wonderful results for so many things, from custom artwork, to gifts, home decorating and more.
