Forget the goulash-stew-paprika trinity. Hungary is far more than this, yummy though such a concoction is.
Hungary is a small country located at the Carpatian Basin, in Central-Eastern Europe, bordered by Austria, Slovakia, Ukraine, Romania, Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia.
Hungary was basically an agricultural country 100 years ago, though it had large cities, like the capital Budapest, the significant part of the population lived in smaller agricultural towns and villages. Life there, especially the cultural life, was completely different compared to the capital.
As Hungary was part of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, Hungary's capital Budapest and the Austrian capital Vienna tried to copy each other from many points of view. If someone visits both cities, they will see this resemblance even now, 100 years later.
