Situated in Greater London in the United Kingdom is a plethora of tree-filled forests, amazing gardens and at least five privately run railways. It's hard to believe it's all in miniature scales, but just a quick peek into the workspace of Jax Perrat, owner of Ceynix Miniature Trees 'n' Trains, and you become a believer immediately.
Jax creates one-of-a-kind exquisite trees and landscapes for the dollhouse and model railroading communities that are in great demand. A demand by customers who run the gamut from mini railroad afficionados filling a train layout with background trees, dollhouse owners adding the finishing touches to their landscapes to museums requiring exacting replicas for a town or historic period. For Jax the catchphrase should be "so many trees, so little time."
Most miniature artisans find their niche and the scale that they find most comfortable.
"There is no such thing as exact scales when it come to trees. The vast majority of people do not have scale trees anyway. An average British Tree (according to our Woodland Trust) is 65 feet tall - that's a 12th scale model tree of five feet five inches tall! And a typical American Hardwood is 85 feet tall (according to the US Dept of Agriculture), which means a typical 12th scale tree of seven feet. Obviously when working with other flora scale does come into it."
Trees of no particular scale might be okay but when it comes to getting her trees to look real there is no such thing as "close enough;" they must be created with exacting precision or not at all.
