While munching on some Lindt Extra Dark I began to ponder blue food. I decided to investigate. I began by asking my kids what their favorite blue foods were. As expected, they rattled off a list that started with blue raspberry lollipops and ended somewhere between blue bubble gum and blue M&M candies. My own thoughts meandered toward 'wiggly jiggly blue brains' - a noxious concoction of blue jello and cottage cheese beloved by little ones enthralled by all things gross. When I asked some of my friends from the Food Board to show me their favorite blue foods, needless to say I was amazed.
IGMA artisan Christel Jensen from Norway makes lovely miniature food. She told me that her favorite blue foods included blue buttercream, blueberries, and those fancy blue drinks. Her love of blue buttercream shows in her beautiful cupcakes and wedding cakes. Christel's wonderful style is inspired by reading cookbooks, magazines, and watching TV.
She also searches the internet for new ideas. She told me that she likes to follow the trends, fitting them into her unique 'worn and cozy' style. Right now Christel is creating miniature food delicacies with a chic French flair using pastels and muted colors. Christel makes most of the accessories accompanying her tiny food delicacies that are a treat for the eye!
